This weird thing happens; we forget we were young once when attempting to lead young people. We stifle and mute the same passion we once carried with us.

The most challenging question I get asked?: Why do I do this? It’s hard to answer because there are many reasons, and it’s evolved over the years. All I know is that after all these years of telling stories, a whisper of hope is still a powerful thing, maybe the most powerful.

I’m not old in human years, but at 40, I’m old in basketball years. Recently, I reentered the game at an open gym. I still have it but do not have as much as I used to. That is entirely okay in my book. Yet the joy that comes with doing stuff we love came rushing back!

Understanding the value of moments is something we can do better. It will have us spending our time in better ways than we do now!

We are complex creatures that could never be summed up by one thing. Yet leaders continue to try to boil us down to simple monolithic people. We aren’t and never will be that simple. We will be complex, forever changing, and beautiful.

Nothing like a new hobby to remind us why we need healthy distractions from the grind of life.

Sometimes the tank is empty. I found myself in this state early this week. It made me think of what we do too so many in society who cannot refuel as I do.
