Sunday Night With John: Go Ahead Gift Yourself!

We all know the holidays can be stressful as we rush around to find the gifts for people we love the most. We put pressure on ourselves to find the right item to elicit the right reaction for our care and love for the person receiving our gift. I was talking with a person the other day who said, by the time all the work and friend holiday parties are done he will be all Christmas’d out and he still had to get through the most important part, with his family. He stated he just once wanted to have the energy to put toward his family for the holidays.

The problem with putting all the energy toward others, which is great, we can forget to take stock of how important it is to acknowledge what we have accomplished. I tend to fixate on where I want to go as a speaker and forget to remember what I have done this year to keep me energized.

·      I launched a new website, in which the month of December has had the highest traffic through since I launched.

·      I have spoken in new places, such as a school in Iowa City, and also booked a keynote engagement on the other side of state in Sioux City.

·      I was able to speak again with the loyal audiences of Osage, Waterloo, Coggon, and Lawler Iowa.

·      I had numerous people contact me and let me know the impact my message as had on their audience,

·      And Monday Morning I will have my story shared throughout Iowa, by the airways of Iowa Public Radio and the show Talk of Iowa.

I would have to say what a year and I couldn’t be happy. I should be able to take some time to enjoy what I have accomplished and so should you.  Whether you are a single mom who took care of your child for year, or you received that promotion you have always wanted, or you saved all year to get that special person that special gift.

This holiday season, don’t lose sight of all your hard work and enjoy time with your loved ones. I want to take the last couple of lines to thank you guys for taking time to read my blog on Sundays, and spread the word about it. It’s a gift that isn’t lost on this speaker. Happy Holidays and safe travels.
